Laser Hair Removal Houston, TX

Laser Hair Removal

Permanently smooth, hair-free skin is possible with laser hair removal treatments. At Metropolitan Med Spa in Houston, Marjon Monfared, MD, and her team of experts offer laser hair removal using state-of-the-art YAG and Alexandrite lasers. Heat energy emitted from a laser destroys hair follicles to help eliminate unwanted hair growth. Call the office or book an appointment using the online tool to learn how you can benefit.

How does laser hair removal work?

The laser is applied to treatment areas, and the energy penetrates your outer layer of skin to target pigment in the hair follicles that lie beneath. The laser energy does no damage to your skin but destroys the hair follicles so they can no longer grow hair. The result is smooth skin that requires no waxing, shaving, or depilatories.

What areas are treatable with laser hair removal?

Most areas where you have unwanted hair are treatable with the YAG or Alexandrite lasers. Men and women can benefit. Consider laser hair removal for:

  • The upper lip and chin
  • Legs and arms
  • Underarms
  • Back and Chest
  • Bikini line

Talk to Dr. Monfared about your areas of concern, and she can advise you as to whether laser hair removal is the right procedure.

How many laser hair removal sessions are necessary to achieve results?

Most people benefit from 3-7 sessions. However, your exact treatment plan depends on your skin type, hair density, and area of treatment. Generally, Dr. Monfared recommends you receive laser treatments until your hair stops growing in the treated areas.

Multiple treatments are necessary because the laser energy targets follicles while they’re in the growth cycle. Not all hairs are in this cycle at the same time, so you need multiple sessions to catch them all at just the right time.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most people find laser hair removal treatments quite tolerable. You feel warmth and prickling during the treatment, which lasts for just 15-60 minutes, depending on your treatment area.

Following treatment, you’re offered cool compresses to ease any lingering discomfort.

How do I care for my skin following a laser hair removal session?

You don’t need to schedule downtime following treatment and can go right back to work or school. The treated areas may look slightly red, but this subsides quickly.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning for about six weeks following laser treatments, because your skin is extra sensitive to the ultraviolet rays.

Skin Rejuvenation Houston, TX

Skin Rejuvenation

For the latest techniques and devices that improve your facial skin tone and repair skin damaged by aging, sun damage, or injury, consult Metropolitan Med Spa in Houston. The team, under the guidance of Marjon Monfared, MD, helps build and rejuvenate your skin with IPL, microneedling, and PRP. Call the office or schedule a consult online to learn how we can help you.

What does skin rejuvenation involve?

Skin rejuvenation refers to strategies that trigger your body to produce more elastin and collagen. These natural skin compounds provide your skin with strength and suppleness. Issues addressed by skin rejuvenation include:

  • Sun damage
  • Rosacea
  • Deep wrinkles and fine lines
  • Acne and other scarring
  • Melasma

Skin rejuvenation can restore a youthful, radiant quality to your complexion.

What is the age-defying microlift?

This innovative treatment uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and “Cytokine Technology,” a breakthrough treatment in anti-aging, to create a youthful appearance. Cytokine Technology incorporates four different growth factors that are vital to a youthful appearance and have been shown in studies to reduce the signs of skin aging. The treatment requires about three days of downtime, but brings about a revitalized look in about two weeks.

What are IPL photofacials?

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy involves using pulses of laser energy to penetrate deep into your skin to dissolve uneven pigmentation caused by the sun, rosacea, melasma, and age. You benefit from approximately 4-6 treatments, and there’s no downtime afterward.

What is microneedling?

For microneedling, your aesthetic specialist uses a special handheld device to glide tiny needles across your skin. The mini holes that are created stimulate your body’s wound-healing processes to build new collagen and elastin. Microneedling is used to treat age spots, wrinkling, and scars. It can also help reduce pore size.

Microneedling also makes your skin temporarily more receptive to the application of topical treatments. This makes microneedling with PRP especially valuable. PRP is made from a sample of your own blood that’s been treated to concentrate the healing platelets. When applied to your skin in conjunction with microneedling, it enhances tightness and smoothness.

What is E-matrix?

E-matrix is a laser skin treatment that improves the appearance of acne scars, treats fine lines and wrinkles, improves textural irregularities, and tightens skin. Treatment requires little to no downtime and is clinically proven safe and effective for all skin types. Most people benefit from about three total sessions.

Skin Tightening Houston, TX

Skin Tightening

Aging, pregnancy, and weight loss can leave you with lax skin on your face and body. Marjon Monfared, MD, provides laser and radiofrequency devices to help firm and tighten this excess skin that may make you feel less than your best. She leads a team of expert technicians at Metropolitan Med Spa who can help you reach your skin-tightening goals. Men and women in Houston can call the office or book online to learn more.

How does radiofrequency help with skin tightening?

Application of radiofrequency (RF) energy to areas of lax skin helps boost collagen production and reduce the appearance of lines and sagging skin. Collagen is a natural compound produced by your body to add structure and strength to your skin, but age, sun exposure, and environmental pollutants hasten its loss.

The RF energy heats your tissue layers beneath the surface of your skin to cause the cells to contract and tighten, creating long-term tightening results. Radiofrequency treatments are especially effective in reducing the appearance of loose skin and wrinkles around the face, neck, arms, and body.

How many RF treatments will I need to see skin-tightening results?

Dr. Monfared creates a treatment plan for you that usually includes 6-12 treatments. Each session lasts about 30 minutes. Your skin appears more radiant following just one treatment, but you benefit most from a series of sessions. Your body needs a few weeks to build new collagen and reformulate existing collagen so your tighter, smoother skin is revealed.

What are laser treatments to enhance skin tightening?

Infrared laser light tightens skin by heating the collagen under your skin’s surface. The skin contracts, as a result, creating a more taut appearance. Loose skin around the face, neck, arms, and body benefit from laser treatments. Like RF treatments, laser skin tightening treatments work best when a series of treatments are used.

What are the effects of skin-tightening treatments?

With skin tightening radiofrequency and laser treatments, you notice an improvement in skin strength, texture, and tone. You appear rejuvenated and look “different,” but not as if you’ve had work done.

Do I need to schedule downtime following skin-tightening treatments?

No, you don’t need to schedule any downtime following skin-tightening treatments. You may have slight redness following a session, but this subsides quickly – usually within a few hours. Feel free to return to work or other daily tasks following skin-tightening sessions.

To learn how your lax skin can be tightened with the latest technology, call Metropolitan Med Spa or schedule an appointment using the online booking tool.

Facials Houston, TX

Facials

Noninvasive facials and peels refresh your appearance and combat a variety of skin concerns, including uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, and the signs of aging. At Metropolitan Med Spa in Houston, Marjon Monfared, MD, and her team provide a variety of treatments that include microdermabrasion and dermaplaning to perfect your appearance. Call the office or book online to learn about these cleansing treatments.

What is an oxygen facial?

An oxygen facial delivers a combination of highly pressurized hyperbaric oxygen and anti-aging serums to your face. The result is a smooth and moisturized surface. You see beautiful skin immediately after a 45-minute session, and can benefit from a series of 3-6 total treatments.

What is HydraFacialⓇ?

HydraFacial technology cleanses, exfoliates, hydrates, extracts, and applies antioxidant therapy -- all in one treatment. You end up with clearer, more radiant skin without any downtime or discomfort. HydraFacial is perfect before a big event, such as a wedding or reunion.

What is microdermabrasion?

The skin rejuvenation technique of microdermabrasion leaves you with smooth, younger-looking skin. A minimally abrasive instrument equipped with fine crystals is applied to the surface of your skin to remove old, dead skin cells and reveal a fresh, more even layer. Microdermabrasion stimulates collagen production, too.

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a mechanical exfoliation of your outer layer of skin (the epidermis) to remove dead cells and rid the skin of peach fuzz, also known as vellus hair. This hair causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, dulling your complexion and leading to breakouts. A dermaplaning session requires no downtime and creates instant results.

What is a triple transformation peel?

The triple transformation peel features a combination of effective acids that, when applied to your skin, triggers the old outer layer of your skin to slough off. This peel helps reduce the appearance of melasma, freckles, and acne. Use it three to four times per year to revitalize your look.

What is the GlyPro power peel?

The GlyPro power peel includes 60% glycolic acid to encourage the exfoliation of your skin. All but the most sensitive skin types can benefit from this therapy. The peel addresses:

  • Signs of aging
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Irregular pigmentation
  • Photodamage

Dr. Monfared may recommend the GlyPro power peel if you have acne or fine lines, too.

With such a variety of skin treatments, facials, and peels offered at Metropolitan Med Spa, you benefit from a personalized consultation with Dr. Monfared. Call the office or book an appointment online to schedule.

Fillers Houston, TX

Fillers

Injectables offered at Metropolitan Med Spa in Houston effectively treat the signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles. You can also request special injectable treatments to boost your energy, help with weight loss, revitalize your complexion, and regrow hair on the scalp. Marjon Monfared, MD, leads an expert team who reviews your aesthetic goals and recommends appropriate injectable treatments.

What wrinkle-reducing injectables are available?

When you repetitively smile, frown, and squint, the muscle action etches lines in your face and fortifies wrinkles. Both Botox® and Xeomin® are effective injectables that contain a botulinum toxin to relax these muscles and reduce the appearance of the lines and wrinkles they cause. Both are FDA-approved for use in areas such as the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet.) You’ll notice wrinkle-smoothing effects in a few days, with full results becoming evident in 7-14 days.

The injections offer temporary results that last for 3-4 months. Treatment times are quick, however, taking just about 15-30 minutes, and you can have multiple treatments to maintain a smoother look. You don’t need to schedule downtime following Botox and Xeomin injections.

What are injectable dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers help add hydration and volume to an aging face to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and add volume to thinning cheeks and lips. At Metropolitan Med Spa, Dr. Monfared and her team offer the following fillers:

Juvéderm

A collection of fillers that lifts the cheeks, smooths marionette lines around the mouth, and plumps the lips. Juvéderm contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin.

Volbella®

A product from the Juvéderm line, this injection can increase lip fullness and soften the appearance of smoker’s lines around your mouth. It uses hyaluronic acid with a slightly different molecular weight.

Belotero®

A dermal filler similar to Juvéderm, Belotero also uses hyaluronic acid to smooth wrinkled skin and add volume. It’s particularly effective for nasolabial folds that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth.

Versa®

Versa is a newer dermal filler that contains hyaluronic acid. Compared to other types of fillers, it’s water based and more adaptable. Some patients find it’s less painful and results in less swelling or bruising

All dermal fillers used at Metropolitan Med Spa are FDA-approved and their results last from 6-18 months, depending on the formula used, the area treated, and how your body responds.

What is a liquid facelift?

The liquid facelift is the latest innovation in injectables. Special FDA-approved fillers are spread evenly on your skin and then microneedling is performed with a handheld device that pokes tiny holes to a depth of up to 1.5 millimeters below your skin’s surface. This technique stimulates your skin to create more collagen, a natural skin-strengthening compound, and distributes the filler more effectively. You get dramatic results that include reduced fine lines and wrinkles and tighter smooth skin.

How does platelet-rich plasma help me achieve my aesthetic goals?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses your own blood to address a number of skin concerns. A sample is drawn and processed, and only the enriched platelets are mixed with a little bit of plasma. This “liquid gold” is then injected back into your skin to boost tone and texture. PRP can also improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and tighten lax skin. When injected into the scalp, PRP can encourage hair regrowth.

What are B12 injections and Lipo Slim injections?

B12 injections can be administered once or twice a month to boost your energy levels and ability to concentrate. They also help with weight loss and can improve your immune system function.

Lipo Slim injections help your liver remove fat, effectively releasing fat throughout your body. You may receive these injections up to two times per week to accelerate your metabolic processes and facilitate weight loss.

Infrared Therapy Houston, TX

Infrared Therapy

To take advantage of the infrared sauna therapy offered at the spa, call today or book an appointment using the online tool.

How does infrared therapy work?

The unique sauna works by using infrared wavelengths of light to heat the body at its core. Using a specialized wavelength, the heat vibrates water molecules in the body to a point that they break down. You experience a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins lie.

If you desire improved skin and a reduction of inflammation, you may benefit from infrared therapy. All types of skin and adults of all ages benefit.

Is the heat of the infrared sauna really intense?

The infrared sauna brings about results at a lower temperature as compared to a traditional sauna, making it more tolerable for clients who don’t like high heat.

What are the benefits of infrared therapy?

Infrared therapy brings about a number of extraordinary aesthetic benefits. These include:

  • Detoxification
  • Weight loss
  • Clearer, tighter skin
  • Improved circulation
  • Faster healing of injuries

When you’re exposed to the light, your cells are prompted to produce additional collagen and elastin. These compounds improve your skin’s strength and youthful look. The infrared light promotes nutrient exchange, oxygen delivery, and greater blood flow in inflamed and painful areas, too.

How long does each infrared therapy session last?

Infrared therapy sessions last 30-45 minutes. Dr. Monfared develops a customized plan for your goals and needs. You benefit from a series of 12 sessions, scheduled two to three times per week over the course of three to four weeks.

Does infrared therapy require downtime?

No downtime is required after infrared sauna therapy. You can go right back to your daily activities, including work and exercise, if desired. The light therapy has no side effects. It doesn’t heat the surface of the skin, so there’s no risk of burning. Sauna therapy is pain-free and noninvasive.

How soon will I see results from infrared therapy?

You notice improvements in skin health and feel fresher after just one treatment. Optimal results are achieved when you follow through on a recommended full course of 12 treatments.

What is cryolipolysis fat freeze?

  • Abdomen

What is body cavitation?

This method of liposuction destroys fat using low-frequency sound waves. Dr. Monfared recommends this process for men and women who want to contour their bodies, regain confidence, and combat cellulite. It requires no downtime.

Hair Restoration Houston, TX

Hair Restoration

If you want your thinning hair to be restored to a more lustrous, full state, contact Marjon Monfared, MD, and her team at Metropolitan Med Spa in Houston. The practice combines platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies with the latest advances in growth factor cytokines and coenzymes to stimulate hair growth and give you thicker, fuller hair in just a few months. To learn if you’re a candidate for these revolutionary therapies, call the office or schedule an appointment online.

What is platelet-rich plasma?

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, uses your own blood to create a superior healing compound. Dr. Monfared or a certified technician draws a sample of your blood and spins it down in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelet count. Platelets contain tremendous healing potential in the form of growth factors. The resulting PRP can heal a number of issues, including joint pain, skin health, and hair loss.

How does PRP affect hair restoration?

At Metropolitan Med Spa, the platelet-rich plasma is combined with a unique anti-hair loss serum to boost your hair growth. The serum contains the latest advances in growth factor cytokines, incorporating two of the main growth factors needed to generate cells that contribute to hair growth. The growth factors included are basic fibroblast growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor.

The PRP and serum compound is injected into your scalp using microneedles at points where healing should occur. The compound stimulates your hair follicles to grow more hair and strengthens existing hair.

How long is a treatment session?

Each treatment session lasts about 75 minutes. You will require multiple treatments – usually about 10 total, that are applied over the course of 4-6 months. You receive a customized treatment plan depending on the extent of your hair loss and how your hair follicles respond to the hair restoration treatments.

When will I see results of hair restoration treatments?

You should notice decreased shedding and improvement in your hair texture and thickness within two weeks of treatment. New hair may also begin to grow. You’ll need to wait 3-6 months following the first treatment to get substantial results and more lustrous locks.

Why should I consider PRP for hair restoration?

Studies prove that platelet-rich plasma can successfully restore hair growth. Plus, it’s a minimally invasive treatment, so you don’t have to undergo surgery to get benefits. PRP is all natural and derived from your own body, so you won’t reject the compound.

For more information about how you can restore a lustrous head of hair with natural therapies, call the office or book an appointment online.

Cryoskin Houston, TX

Cryoskin

Marjon Monfared, MD, and the team at Metropolitan Med Spa are excited to bring cryotherapy services to the men and women of Houston. This innovative treatment offers a wide range of benefits and is quickly becoming one of the most popular nonsurgical options for aesthetic enhancement. If you’d like to learn more about what the Cryoskin device can do for you, schedule a one-on-one consultation today. To find out how Cryoskin can benefit your skin, call the office or schedule an appointment online today.

What is cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a treatment that harnesses the power of sub-zero temperatures to stimulate your body’s innate healing abilities. The Cryoskin platform permanently reduces fat cells and improves the appearance of cellulite on your body. Facial therapy with Cryoskin boosts collagen production to give you a more toned, youthful facial appearance.

How does Cryoskin reduce fat?

Your body has numerous fat cells, many of which are located just beneath the surface of your skin. It’s not uncommon to have stubborn deposits of fat that linger, even when you adhere to a strict diet and exercise plan.

Cryoskin reduces unwanted fat by destroying a portion of targeted fat cells. Treatments begin by gently heating the treatment area to a temperature of 118℉. Next, the same area is brought down to 17℉. That change in temperature damages a percentage of the treated fat cells.

Once treated, those cells can no longer store fat. They release their accumulated fat stores, which your lymphatic system processes and eliminates from your body. That leaves the treated area with improved contouring and a more toned appearance.

Treatments take just 12-40 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. You may need a series of sessions with a couple of weeks in between to allow your body to respond to treatment.

How does Cryoskin improve the visible signs of aging?

The primary factor in facial aging is collagen loss. When you’re young, your face is padded with a thick layer of collagen. As the years pass, you lose much of that collagen, leaving your skin to sag and droop into lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Cryoskin treatments boost the oxygen supply in the treated areas. That prompts your body to produce new collagen. Those fresh new collagen cells smooth skin and improve the appearance of wrinkles and overall skin texture.

Are Cryoskin treatments painful?

One of the things that makes Cryoskin such a popular treatment is the ability to achieve impressive results without surgery or pharmaceutical intervention. There is no need for any anesthesia, no risk of infection, and no preparation.

You can resume normal activities immediately after your sessions, with no recovery time necessary. No one will know you’ve had Cryoskin therapy, although once you see the results, you’ll likely spread the word to friends and family.

To learn more about what the Cryoskin device can do to help you look and feel your best, call the office or schedule an appointment online today.
